Abbey Medical Group is totally committed to training and all of the partners are involved on a daily basis. We work closely with the Yorkshire Deanery and also the Hull and York Medical School.
We regularly have 2nd, 3rd and 5th year medical students as well as 2nd year foundation doctors and Registrars.
We are also totally committed to the training of our own staff and aim to achieve very high standards. We have a policy of continued development and work with all of our staff to promote from within where possible.

Abbey Medical group is proud to be part of the York Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) for General Practice . The Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) is the Specialty Training programme for General Practice. A career in primary care requires entry to the VTS and three years of training as a GP registrar, with at least 12 months being spent in hospital posts and 12 months in general practice. Once successfully completing the training, a GP registrar can apply for CCT and join the GP Register.
