NZ  NZIS 1007  August 2005

I don’t have my passport it is being processed can you do my medical without it?

We can do the medical if you bring another form of proof of identification but you would need to bring the passport at a later date to verify the number etc before the documents can be sent off. The radiographers will not do an X-ray without the appropriate passport.

Do I need to have bloods when I have had them done already because I work as a Health professional?

Yes.  The bloods have to be taken at the premises of the Panel Doctor who is doing the medical.

Do I get a discount, as I am a doctor/nurse?

No.

I have a significant past medical history of ……….. will this affect my application?

We are not in a position to say if you have passed or not passed a medical.  We can only put together all the information we can for you.  This may mean further information from either your GP or a Consultant.

I am on my period that week will I have to wait and book later?

No this is not a problem.  At the appropriate time after the medical you can arrange to have your urine dipsticked at your own doctor and the result can be faxed to us on the headed paper of the practice.

How far in advance should I book?

We are usually able to offer you an appointment within 10 days.  This is often sooner if there are only one or two medicals needed.  In special circumstances we may be able to fit your medical in on a day when we do not have any medical slots.  This would be dependent on the availability of a doctor and at an increased price.

Do you do X-rays?

No we do not have the facilities.  We have a good working relationship with the York District Hospital who are on the panel for Radiographers.  They also do “on line” X-rays for Australian Immigration.

Can I have my X-ray after the medical

We prefer that you have this done before your medical in case there is anything the panel doctor needs to follow up for you

How far away is York District Hospital from where you are?

About 10 minutes by car but you can also get a taxi or a bus which run frequently

Do you let me know when the documents have been sent?

Yes we send a letter telling you the documents have been posted or we can e-mail you.  If it is an on line application you are able to track this on the computer on the designated site.

Is postage extra?

No.  This is included in the price of your medical.  We send your documents by Special Delivery International which means it is signed for at the other end

Do you courier the documents?

If you have told us you wish to send the documents this way, we contact you when the documents are ready for postage.   The cost of couriering documents is at your expense. You arrange and pay the Courier and let us know when they will be coming. They then pick up the documents from ourselves and we then telephone you with the tracking number.
