Abbey Medical Group offer a travel health service. Travel health education and vaccination will be given as required by your destination, travel itinerary and general health. You may be asked to complete at travel risk assessment form.
We request that you contact the surgery by phone to speak to a nurse. They will phone you back and discuss when you need to attend.
Private Patients – People who are not registered with this practice can attend for yellow fever and other vaccinations. Please inform the receptionist when you make your appointment. Please arrive ten minutes before your appointment to complete the necessary paperwork. Thank you.
For more information on travel health for your destination go to NHS travel site, Nathnac.
When you attend for your travel appointment the nurse will advise you on the vaccinations you need. Some vaccines will have a charge.
We would recommend you attend 8 weeks before you travel or contact us as soon as you can to allow time for the necessary appointments.
• Do not rely on your travel agent for travel health advice. We recommend you phone for advise about your travel as often your travel company does not given the full recommendations that we consider you need.
• Malaria. The malaria carrying mosquito is altering it’s location and developing resistance to modern treatments all the time. Please check on your requirements even if you are going to the same country as last year as the situation may have changed.
• Traveller’s Diarrhoea. Unfortunately this is the most common illness associated with foreign travel and there is no vaccination against it. Good hygiene is essential. Click here for more information.
Travel vaccinations
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the recommended vaccines.
