Babies begin their childhood vaccinations as per the British Immunisation Schedule at 8 weeks old. New mums are sent an appointment for the baby clinic when the child is 6 weeks old. You will also receive an appointment with a doctor for their 6 week baby check two weeks before the first vaccination is due. It is important that the child has their 6 week check before the immunisations begin.
New patients registering with the practice will continue their vaccinations begun elsewhere. We will receive the details from your previous surgery, but please bring in your 'red' book when you register to prevent any delay.
Baby clinics are run on Friday mornings at Tang Hall Lane Surgery, however if you cannot attend the Friday morning clinic, or would prefer to attend the Victoria Way Surgery, arrangements can be made.
Fathers and grandparents can bring babies for their jabs but we do require Mum's permission if they do not accompany the baby. Please discuss with the Practice Nurse.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child's vaccinations, please speak to your Health Visitor, Practice Nurse or Doctor.
