Meet Our Nurses

Catriona Clark

BA.(hons)  RGN  RM

Catriona Clark has been a practice nurse since 1990 at Tang Hall Lane Surgery and Abbey Medical Group. Catriona did her general nurse training at St Georges Hospital, London, moving to York in 1979. She has worked at Fulford Maternity Hospital as a midwife and York District Hospital in general nursing, before moving into general practice nursing.

Catriona has diplomas in asthma management, chronic obstructive lung disease and family planning. In addition she has training in diabetes care, travel health, coronary heart disease and cervical cytology. Catriona is a qualified Nurse Prescriber and sees patients for minor illness conditions.

Catriona is also the team leader for the practice nurses at Abbey Medical Group. The whole team value the importance of staying up to date in all clinical areas and they attend courses regularly in a range of topics including; resuscitation, infection control and child abuse as well as chronic diseases.

Catriona is married with 2 grown up children and lives in York.

Sue Herring

RGN

Sue Herring trained at Newcastle General Hospital, qualifying in 1976. Sue has worked mainly in Neurosurgery, Intensive and Coronary Care in Switzerland, Inverness and Darlington, before moving to York in 1986.

Since joining the practice in 1988, Sue has gained a diploma in Community Health, which incorporated modules on Asthma, Diabetes and Coronary Heart Disease, a Certificate in Family Planning and a degree in Health Studies (2004). Sue qualified as a Nurse Prescriber in 2007.

Sue's special interests are diabetes, minor illness, travel and womens health.

Sue is married with one daughter.

Jenny Herd

RGN

Jenny Herd joined Abbey Medical Group in 2003.  Jenny qualified as a nurse in 1982 from York District Hospital and has worked in several areas, including cardiology, before becoming a Practice Nurse eight years ago.

Jenny's special interests within the practice are travel medicine, asthma (Dip. In Asthma), childhood immunisation, diabetes, wound management and general clinics.

Joanne Topping

RGN

Joanne Topping joined Abbey Medical in June 2007 after working as a District Nurse for the last 10 years in York. Previously Joanne has worked in Leeds, Birmingham and Loughborough. Joanne is a Registered Nurse and qualified in 1987 in York.

Joanne specialises in wound care and she particularly enjoys running the baby clinics.
