Abbey Medical Group are a large medical practice based in York, providing healthcare services to eleven and a half thousand patients, mainly in the Tang Hall, Heworth and Huntington areas of the city.

Jill Bargate

Clinical Support Manager

Jill Bargate has worked at Abbey Medical Group since August 1999 when it was just Tang Hall Lane Surgery. Jill joined as a part time receptionist covering for maturnity leave.

Jill qualified as a nurse in 1985 and she has previously worked as a practise nurse in the York area. Jill's nursing experience has helped her to work up to the position she currently holds.

Nick Giles

Practice Manager

Nick Giles is the practice Manager at Abbey Medical Group and has been at the practice since April 2007. Nick has worked in both food retail and distribution and logistics before joining the NHS.

Nick is married with three children and enjoys cooking, keeping fit and football.

Catriona Clark

Practice Nurse Team Leader

Catriona Clark has been a practice nurse since 1990 at Tang Hall Lane Surgery and Abbey Medical Group.Catriona did her general nurse training at St Georges Hospital, London, moving to York in 1979. She has worked at Fulford Maternity Hospital as a midwife and York District Hospital in general nursing, before moving into general practice nursing.

Catriona has diplomas in asthma management, chronic obstructive lung disease and family planning. In addition she has training in diabetes care, travel health, coronary heart disease and cervical cytology. Catriona is a qualified Nurse Prescriber and sees patients for minor illness conditions.

Catriona is also the team leader for the practice nurses at Abbey Medical Group. The whole team value the importance of staying up to date in all clinical areas and they attend courses regularly in a range of topics including; resuscitation, infection control and child abuse as well as chronic diseases.

Catriona is married with 2 grown up children and lives in York.

Jackie Divorty

Patient Services Manager

Jackie Divorty has worked at Abbey Medical Group since the merger of Tang Hall Lane and Parkview Surgeries. Before then she worked for Dr Hamilton and Partners at Parkview from May 2000.

Jackie has been married for 21 years and she has 2 children, a son 19 and daughter 16. Jaickie also has a black Labrador that eats more than both of them.

Jackie enjoys lots of sports and can often be found in the next generation swimming pool overtaking Dr Hamilton, and at Rugby league matches either at York City Knights or supporting the local amateur clubs in York.

Jackie also enjoys gardening and travelling and it’s been said, the odd social event too.
